It's all in the details,
I just baught my 49g+ today and found that annoying bug with the clock and flickering screen. This ROM 1.23 fixes it. I really don't know what else it changed since, its only been 12 hours with the calc.
www.hpcalc.org is the best!

I'm not sure, but I think this 2004/02/03 15:45:49 updated version is smaller than the previous one, and therefore doesn't erase the User Flash ROM. |

Talking about a rom-update?...
I have not yet had the opportunity to 'test' this 1.23 upgrade, but I have a strong feeling that HP has outsourced their excellent calculator knowledge. But who has taken over their calculator philosophy and knowledge? By philosophy I mean these really unprecedented and not yet imitated calculators like the 48-series or the 30- and 40-series: the best keys ever made and nicest clicks ever heard and felt. Form and function as an identical twin.
By the way: the first thing I saw after having upgraded my 49+ to rom version 1.23 is that all menus with dots now have right arrows above these dots.

Here is the answer of HP technical support:
unfortunately it is not possible, as this ROM version is designed especially for the 49g+, not for the 49g.
